Welcoming Fall With Baby On Board

Welcoming Fall With Baby On Board

In last week’s Fashion Friday we talked about my favorite fall fashion find, The Blazer.  Unfortunately while it took me years to find the right blazer, it is even harder to find the right blazer when you’re pregnant.

When I was pregnant with my first daughter I had to wear a suit to work.  I still remember the awful shopping trip to the big huge mall where I searched in every maternity store and every suit store before walking out with one blazer that wasn’t awful and one that was almost tolerable, but would fit me for longer.  Not fun is an understatement.

So my maternity fall must have is a comfortable cardigan.  I found a few reasonable options first is a simple design from Croft & Barrow, there’s a slightly edgier Daisy Fuentes piece, and my favorite, which is from the UK, Evans Edge to Edge Cardigan.

A cardigan is flexible, like last weeks’ blazer.  It is also perfect for the growing midsection most pregnant women have.  It’s something you can purchase now and it will still work in a few months.  You can pair it with a skirt or pants, and if you buy a neutral color you can add some pop with your shirt.  Something like our Jenna Bubble Top would add a little zing and personality to the outfit.

The cardigan also comes in handy for those days when it’s cool outside and warm inside, you can easily take it off and put it back on as needed.  We all know how hormones mess with our body temperatures during pregnancy, you never know what you’ll need!

Fashion Friday – Welcome FALL

Fashion Friday – Welcome FALL

I’ll admit, I’m a bit apprehensive about fall.  I love all things warm and spring like.  Fall is like the anti-spring, and the precursor to my least favorite season – WINTER.

Now that I’ve gotten *that* off my chest, I feel a little better. There is one nice thing about fall.  New clothes.  By the end of summer I’m a little tired of my staple pieces and I’m ready to move on.  What can I say, variety is the spice of life, right?

I’ve spent the past few fall/winter seasons searching for the perfect blazer.  One that I could wear with jeans, pants, or a skirt.  One that actually embraced my feminine shape and didn’t make me look like a rectangle.

I wanted something that would dress up an outfit when I needed it, and keep me warm in the weather fluctuations of the season.

I finally found it.  And yes, the price tag stung a little bit.  But I figure this will last for quite some time, it will work with SO many outfits, and it makes me feel good.  Sometimes it’s best to splurge on that wardrobe staple that actually makes you feel good.

In fact, I loved it so much that the next day I was off to my husband’s studio for a photo shoot.  I paired it with the cute strapless top I picked off the clearance rack at White House Black Market (not breastfeeding or pregnancy friendly), my dark jeans, and cute black heels.

Fashion Friday – Spring SHOES!

Fashion Friday – Spring SHOES!

I don’t know about where you live, but around here we’ve had some spring teaser days that just have me yearning for summer.  I am SO excited to spend hours outside in the sun and taking my kids to all sorts of fun places.  I am even more excited about summer shoes.

Oh how I love sandals and flip flops and all things summery.  It means I need a pedicure, but hey, every mom deserves some pampering now and then right?  Time to break out the nail polish and foot soak or head to the salon for some kid-free relaxation.

I had some fun at DSW and bought some fun summer sandals.  I have to say that I’m really impressed.  They got here very quick, and I bought 2 pairs of clearance sandals, and qualified for free shipping! I also had a lovely $10 off coupon they sent me after I made my first DSW purchase. Sweet!  To make it even better, when you shop through ebates, you’ll get 4% cash back!

It seems that the gladiator type sandals are going to be big this year.  Canvas wedges are still popular too.  Of course flip flops never go out of style!
